Three months into 2020! Change is an emotional rollercoaster and 2020 has brought an unexpected start to the year. Many of us get so lost in coping and pushing through the changes that we often forget about the importance of self-reflection and personal growth.
Personal growth seems complex and difficult. It doesn’t happen just by growing older; it is a process in which you reflect on your past, learn from experiences, and apply them to set goals for yourself. Improving yourself a little bit every day will result in great personal growth. Accomplishments will be noticeable and significant progress will be observed. Though we, as students, go through a similar routine every day, there is always something to reflect on at the end of the day.
We should be setting time aside on a daily basis to go through this process. It requires you to dig a bit deeper, put things into perspective and identify your feelings. It is not effective if you just recall the events of your day. Again, personal growth is very important to reach your goals.
There are many ways that you can keep track of your personal growth and go through the process of self-reflection. Today, I have listed 10 questions that we should ask ourselves at the end of each day to help enhance personal growth.
1. When did I experience the most joy?
2. When was I angry, stressed, or frustrated?
3. When was I at peace?
4. Where could I have been more effective today?
5. Where could I have been more compassionate?
6. When did I feel most tired?
7. Am I satisfied with my level of productivity today?
8. What did I do today to contribute to my physical health?
9. Who did I feel most connected to?
10. What am I most grateful for?
One of the most effective ways to do this is to use a small journal. However, the thing that most of us lack are not the materials; it’s the time. Although writing is more effective, just thinking through these questions each day will also ensure us with consistent growth. Reflect, and identify the changes you want to make. Effectively implementing these changes will allow us to begin our journey of personal growth.
