OverEasy Wings Food Review

OverEasy is an American-style diner with locations in Fullerton Bay and along Orchard Road (Liat towers). It is most famous for its milkshakes and burgers. This particular review took place in the Orchard branch.

Food & Drink: 8.5/10

Honestly, I expected more from these wings flavour-wise. The sensation and flavour allowed for a similar experience to how I assume drinking gasoline would feel. The level 3 spice was spicy enough for my fingers to still be experiencing a residual burn–however, its impact on the mouth was not completely awful, though I made the mistake of allowing my lips to make contact with the sauce (one I will never make again). In terms of taste, spice levels 3 and 10 were very similar–10 may have been slightly tangier, earning it extra points. Level 10’s burn was far slower and more painful compared to 3. Initially, the spiciness seemed harmless. However, after some time, the spice took its full effect and I struggled to contain my discomfort as my tongue and throat suffered. The combination of oreo milkshake (10/10) and iced water only contributed slightly to minimise the pain, but once they had been swallowed, the pain returned once again. Due to this, the wings sit at a solid 7/10 - while I think it could have improved in terms of flavour, the spiciness certainly delivered.

Atmosphere: 7/10

Ambience-wise, the restaurant was very crowded (as expected for a Friday night) and the music was very loud, which made it difficult for conversation. It was also very dark, but the decorative neon signs made the atmosphere quite enjoyable.

Service: 7.5/10

The waitstaff were very friendly and (for the most part) attentive, and I assume that the occasional lack of service can be attributed to the many other diners.

Bathroom: 5/10

The bathroom was average, and I have my reservations about having to pull the door when exiting the stall, as there is little room to manoeuvre. I enjoyed the sinks very much.

All in all, if you are someone who enjoys spicy foods that still have flavour (or a masochist) – I would highly recommend these wings. Due to the noisy environment, I would not recommend this place for a first date (unless you’d prefer not to speak).
